The Cosmelan Consultation
We at Signature18 will schedule a private consultation with each patient, before beginning any aesthetic treatment. During this time, an evaluation of skin’s tone, texture, and facial anatomy will be performed, the patient’s aesthetic desires would be dealt with and the options for facial rejuvenation will also be discussed. If it is determined that a Cosmelan Peel can achieve the desired results, your treatment sessions will begin.
The Cosmelan Procedure?
After a series of cleansing and micro exfoliation, the cosmelan mask unique in its formulation is applied to the area of concern. You may feel a slight tingling sensation which will settle in a few minutes. Following this, you are sent home and allowed to cleanse your face only after a period of 6-10 hours. The face may show a mild erythema/redness on cleansing the mask which is normal. For the next few days, the skin may feel a little tight and there may be some flaking which can easily be reduced by the application of a moisturizer.

Melanin is responsible for giving the skin its color. The Cosmelan Peel aims to decrease the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting certain enzymes like tyrosinase, providing a more even complexion.

When can I expect to see results?
Your face may feel tight, itchy or red and begin to peel a few days post procedure. A week later, you will see the skin looking brighter and more even in tone. After a couple weeks, the skin will take on a shiny and a healthier glow. These results will continue to improve over the fourth or fifth week, when the full benefits of a Cosmelan Peel can be seen.
Post treatment care?
The skin will be delicate and sensitive the first two weeks after any peel treatment; prolonged sun exposure should be avoided especially in the first 48 hours and a broad spectrum, non-comedogenic sunscreen should be worn at all times.
How many treatments will I need?
Anywhere from 1-3 Cosmelan treatments may be required to achieve best results. However most patients experience a dramatic reduction in the appearance of unwanted pigmentation following just one session of Cosmelan.
