Weight loss is hard in difficult areas like neck where fat-melting injections serve as an effective solution!
What is Double Chin?
Sub mental fullness is the medical term for ‘double chin’. This is caused by fat accumulation in the area beneath the chin and near the jaw line. People of varied age groups have sub mental fullness due to genetic tendencies to store fat under the chin or weight changes or just as a part of aging.
How can Double Chin be reduced?
Reduction of fullness can be performed either by surgery or by injections. The later is a minimally invasive treatment option that might be an alternative to a surgical neck lift or liposuction.
Who will benefit from these injections?
Patients concerned about under-chin fat and its impact on their facial appearance (plumper looking chin will leave them looking heavier than they actually are or more advanced in age) non smokers, patients with realistic expectations who understand the procedure and have tolerance to discomfort.
How many sessions will be required?
Treatments and results can vary significantly from patient to patient and not everyone is a suitable candidate. In general, a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 injections may be needed. The sessions need to be performed 6 weeks apart.
How is the Procedure done?
- The procedure usually takes a good half an hour during which an anesthetic cream is first applied following which a grid is transferred to the area to be treated.
- The injections are then given at a cm distance covering the entire fat area
- Ice is used to minimize pain if the procedure is not comfortable.
- Stinging and burning sensation may be felt during and after the procedure.
- Swelling, redness and bruising are a common occurrence after treatment and may take a few days to resolve.
Are the results permanent?
The reduction is considered permanent in nature as studies sponsored by the suppliers show that the under chin fullness does not return even at the five year mark.
How does the injection treatments work?
The injection contain deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring compound in our body used to breakdown and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, fat cells are destroyed, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells will no longer be able to accumulate fat. The treatment is considered minimally invasive in that it uses cosmetic injections rather than a surgical approach to reducing under chin fat.
